Last Wednesday, Shani and I had a visit to RAF Coningsby, home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. We felt incredibly privileged to be able to go and see the planes up close, and standing under the Lancaster particularly was an amazing yet humbling experience.
There was reason behind our visit to see the heritage fleet; to be able to capture clear, detailed photographs of the aircraft that we can then transfer into embroidery.
At Shani's Embroidery we work incredibly hard to make sure that the embroidery we create captures the planes as accurately as possible. We use reference photographs in order to digitise every part of every plane, from the props right through the the joins in the bodywork. Doing this means that the finished officially licensed products have designs that are unrivalled in terms of lifelike detail.
Whilst stood next to the planes we even got out our Madeira cotton swatches and some of the ground crew joined us in finding the perfect colours that matched the paintwork of each aircraft.
Coming away from Coningsby, we are excited to continue to develop our line of officially licensed BBMF heritage fleet products, confident that the designs we are creating will meet every enthusiast's expectations.
Keep your eyes peeled on the website for new item launches.
